Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
You ask for spiritual comfort. The Bible makes it clear that he is still with you and always will be. Let me give you three scriptures that I hope will provide the comfort that you seek. John 11:25- "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live (spiritually and eternally) even if he dies (physically)". 1 Corinthians 15:44- The body "is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body." Matthew 5:4- "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted."
The message is that your husband (and all of us who believe) who has died physically will live forever in a spiritual body and you will experience his presence in your life at unexpected times in your life to comfort you in your time of mourning. You cannot know in advance when, but there will be "jaw-dropping" moments in your life when you will profoundly feel his presence. A sound, an aroma, a breeze, possibly a vision that only you and he shared. These will sound only like wishful words to you right now, but after your first spiritual encounter, you will understand the power and comfort of the words promised in the Bible. Be open to your senses and God bless you under the weight of your tragedy.
