Since my husband was away from home often on work assignment, I have years of practice being alone, running the household and managing children and working. It's been almost 3 years since he passed away. I couldn't tell if I was lonely or just feeling alone. I have never felt lonely before because at the end of his trips, I/we (the children, he and I) would know daddy would be home with us as a family. Now I get a bit frustrated when I couldn't travel alone such as to my great nephew's destination wedding in Mexico. I don't know Spanish and the site is 2 hours away from the airport. I am afraid to get lost there. No one has offered to pick me up if I went. My husband was fluent in Spanish and had an excellent sense of direction. We would never be lost no matter where we were, so I lost the sense of security without him. Yes, I miss him every single day, feeling very much alone right now. Is this loneliness or just feeling alone?
