Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.

All of us here in this group at DS have one thing in common. We are coping with the death of our loved one. All of us know the sorrow, know how bleak and devastating it is. Maybe if I had been a member of a group like this three years ago I might have got back on my feet more quickly. It is hard to say. We each grieve in our way, for our appointed time.
Personally I want to live now. So I have formed a group called Lonely Planet Guide to Loss and Grief which came from an idea I expressed in a post. People are joining, each with the common desire to live and know a little joy.
You might not be ready to engage and you might not even be ready to read positive accounts. But when you are ready the group is here
http://www.dailystrength.org/groups/lonely-planet-guide-to-loss-and-grief and I have to tell you, I am finding the posts that are appearing not only inspirational but hope inducing.
I clung fiercely to hope when Darryl was ill and only gave up in the final hours when I realized that there was no turning back and this disease had overwhelmed him completely.
Now I am clinging just as fiercely to the hope that I can live rather than just exist.
warm wishes

Thanks for posting the site. I bookmarked it so I can go back to it later on today. I too want to move forward. Having lost the two loves in the past two years.....has taken its tole on me. I miss them both terribly but it's time to move on. There is still a LOT of life yet to live. They would both want that. So 2010 will be a good year to a new beginning. Thanks again for the information. Hugs Jenny

Thank you from me too. I don't want to be too hasty, though I do want to LIVE again. Just feel I need to get most of the tears out so I can get through this. Later, I hope to contribute to it, once I figure out what works for me.

Thriving does not necessarily prevent tears. In actual fact, since I have taken this direction I have found Darryl's presence has been stronger, I have hugged the love heart a friend gave me and shed more tears. Three years late it is simply balance that I am seeking.
