Lost my wife of 13 years on NYE. She was only 47. I can't sleep, never hungry, only thing motivates me is caring for our puppies. Just never know when your time is up. Did my best to save her but couldn't. Everyone says it will get better but I just don't see how that' possible

My husband died suddenly in October. He was only 58. I had the same problem...couldn't sleep, couldn't eat, felt sick to my stomach all the time, and had a general ache all over. It was miserable and painful. I don't remember ever feeling so much pain. After about a month, I noticed the general ache was gone and after two months I could actually keep food down. Progress through grief is painfully slow but it happens. Be kind to yourself. Give yourself grace to heal. I still cry very easily and miss him terribly but I can see that I am slowly making progress. Keep the faith :)

I am so sorry for your loss. Day by day or moment by moment is the way many of us have survived this far. I could not even yet cry at only 3 weeks. That didn't come for about a month. Initially I couldn't feel anything and slowly that unraveled. I was so afraid of the pain I did everything I could to keep busy and avoid being alone. The future was empty for me. So I just focused on each moment and told myself, sometimes out loud, that I was ok. It was good to find this site and know others had survived. Things got better with time, not immediately but after a while I'd realize I had an ok day and then maybe two in a row. At 2 years and 3 months most days are ok. I miss my husband everyday but I am surviving and living my life. Try to take care of yourself and possibly look for a local grief or bereavement group. It can help. Marybeth

Sorry to hear. All on this site are in a similar circumstance. Apparently the pain lessens day by day or month by month. I'm at nearly 11 weeks and still waiting.

Sorry for your loss. I am still trying to figure out after a year how to get past merely "existing." It seems like the pain does subside just a little with time, but not the loneliness and emptiness, if that makes sense.
