Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
Understand how you can feel like you're supposed to hide all the feelings, at least you won't find any who don't understand that here.
Vent all you want, hope it helps a little.
nothing.
I was always taught that " grown men don't cry. ". Well, that is BS, I am a grown man and can't stop crying..
Yes, I lost my wife. But, at the same time, I lost my best friend. I also lost the one person on this planet that would forgive me regardless of anything I did or said. I also lost access to a non-stop flow of unconditional love. I lost the one person that would at times offer gentle advice to me on this or that but would never criticize me or sit in judgment of me. I also lost the one person, the only person, that shared with me precise desires for the same foods, same movies, same music, same political views, same spiritual views and every other damn thing in life.
We were one identity by choice because we both wanted it that way. We were Darrell and Debbie. Never apart. Always together
because we wanted it that way.
So, a river of tears flows relentlessly for Darrell and Debbie as the entire identify is gone.
Anyone that cannot understand that has not been in love. Truly in love. Hopelessly head over heels in love.
So, it is OK for a grown man to cry and it is OK for you to cry. It is the only thing that dulls the pain even if it is only for a few minutes at a time.
I remember going to the mall and sitting down in one of the chairs while I was waiting for my daughter to finish up in a store. I started people watching. Couples walking and holding hands, families giggling. I don't think I can begin to describe the ache/pain.
You are allowed to feel anyway at anytime. Your feelings are yours and are never wrong.
Does your town have a women's club? Mine is called a Newcomer's Club but they welcome long time residents, too. It was hard at first but now I play bridge every Tuesday and belong to a book club. Baby steps. Everyone was so nice and the community did help me.
To all you manly men......I'm so sorry that you're feeling so lost without your woman!
To all the girly girls.......I so sorry that you're feeling so lost without your man!
I don't think that Morey would have done very well if it were me who was gone. Although he had a very adventurous spirit in him, he would have been so much more lost and undone!!!
Not that I'm so well put together, I just know what I do and do not want and I'm not too shy to express it! Morey said I could be a real pain in the !@# when I wanted to be!
Knittings, this is the worst hurt of your life.....it sucks!!!!
