I don't know if it was a man or woman but it is less helpful. I worry about people new to this. I know if it had been like this last year when my wife went to heaven I would have not gotten this kind of help and moved on somewhere else.

I agree Tim. This is not user friendly and kind of cold. I wish they would change it back. So many people have gotten help and support here in the past with this forum I worry about this sites future...

I wouldn't generalize and say just because it's cold and insensitive that a man designed it. I know plenty of warm and compassionate men...
However....I do think whomever designed it didn't do their homework as to how this very special place is so important to so many and how it affects so many lives.
You are so very right when you say that this place was a life saver as so many here can arrest to.
Hopefully the little tweets they keep doing here and there will one day (soon) add up and come somewhere close to what we had before.

To make a statement about "men designing this cold, insensitive site." Does not help the men and women on this site.!
We are hoping it may change for the better; however, the powers that be, seem to think differently.

Sandra,,,sorry, my sense of humor ,,,if something easy is made complicated I always say a "man must have designed it". My father, when he was alive, would drive a half mile to make a U-turn rather than make a Y turn, My husband always did things in a far more complicated manner, even when I worked I found the men had completely different ways to handle simple tasks. I would hope that as "whoever" continues on the path of development this site doesn't get lost in the translation. Many of those who traveled the path of grief with me in the early days have developed a site for those more advanced in this process, A friendship was born here out of our mutual bond of grief. I would never intend to NOT be helpful to others who are new here. Sorry if I upset you.

No worries you didn't upset me, I'm just sensitive to other people's feelings...I'm glad you explained your remark because humour in those terms is difficult to decipher, when we don't know the person who is writing it.

We all share those same sentiments I do not understand why they do not read it & take that into consideration? It just blows me away? If they had a loss as a widow/widower they would understand so why not take our suggestions?

Hey Lin, I have been struggling with it, too, but am hoping some of the "fixes" that have been announced will make things a bit easier. There were some significant problems with the old site, some of which have been fixed and some which have not. Some of the issues were more behind-the-scenes stuff, for lack of a better term. There were over a half a million spammer accounts, for instance. They would usually hit the site as I was logging on as a lot of them are in Asia (and I log in early in the morning for the first check of the day from England), and it would take forever just to get in to the site because they were eating up the bandwidth. I am not crazy about the new layout, and for me, it doesn't offer some of the info I really relied upon. And it gives me some info which I don't need - like "trending groups" - it doesn't matter to me what those might be. I am here for this group. I am not suddenly going to go over to one of the others. Anyway, we're all trying to adjust. It's not easy, and some days I do feel like maybe I'm getting too old to keep learning the new tech stuff. But then I remember how much it meant to me to find this place, and I am trying to remember that it wasn't what it looked like that kept me here - it was the support and understanding and advice I received here that did. We'll see how it goes with the next round of "repairs" they have announced, which we should see within the next 30 days.

Hi Martha, beside the forum Change I have to make several attempts to log in. Others have had this problem also. Despite it all I do hope that those in their grief and need continue to find the value and support so many,including myself, have found.

It could be your browser or adblocker making it hard to log in. Some of the browsers are not support by the new site. I think in particular both Chrome and the Kindle are not supported. I would take out the gender bias in the statement but after that I agree completely. I find myself coming back less and less since this new format took over. It feels distant and detached.

I've had a terrible time with this site. I couldn't remember my login information and didn't have the same e-mail account any more so had to start all over. I use to be Brightyellow1. I came to this site almost every day but now maybe once every few weeks. It use to be so easy. What a shame. I wonder how many people this group lost in the transition.

Aflac...so true, and the people in the group that got lost in the transition lost out on a lot of help and support and those new seeking a place to find solace and support may not find this site a warm comfortable place to be.

I would suspect that you are right in that a man (or group possibly(?) including women) designed this site but without taking into account the sensitivities of the people on this particular forum. We differ here from any other site in that we have, and have had to, face and deal with the most traumatic experience that a person can ever encounter. I have stated my objections to this drastic change and reasons for them many times on the members forum. I have been told that more or less I was beating a dead horse and to quit complaining. Well first off, I don't beat horses, or anything else, secondly a horse didn't design this new forum. A horse would have done a better job. Sorry to the ones that think all is fine, but I guess I'm complaining again.
We are, literally, a family here and the damage to it that has been done is irreparable. I have personal confirmation from friends that they have left the site and are not coming back. So I stay in contact with them through emails. On this site, for me at least, the personal connection has been lost. Just to appease some that may read this and take exception to it, could I be wrong, certainly, but are you sure you are right and have the best interests of this group in mind? Enough said...
