Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.

Everyone grieves differently. I had to donate all of his things and put every thing about him out of sight. I couldn't watch TV or listen to the radio. It all hurt too bad. Little by little I added those things back into my life. I still find it hard to look at pictures and its been 2 years and 5 months for me. It will get easier. Takes a long time.
But I have never had a problem sleeping in our bed..It makes me feel close to him..I have his ashes in a beautiful Urn there as well and a few pictures of us and are daughters.. ..He lived he was real and I have no problem with this...I still miss him every minute of everyday..but I don't cry as often, because I'm grateful for the life we shared and our family and grand children, who wouldn't be here if we had never married....I know what you are saying about pictures, but I'm grateful for them, because they remind me of the life I was meant to live with my Love and the reason we are here..
When you think about it Hector we are all terminal from the minute we are born...
You'll see her who again, because I've had so many signs,.. I'll see my "Skeptic" again as have my children and grand children.
Life goes pretty fast Hector..Peace, prayers and many hugs...Gail..
Don't cry because it's over..smile because it happened..
I couldn't sleep in our bedroom - Cliff died in our bed. I had horrible nightmares, too, that would wake me up sobbing. I was getting just snippets of sleep - it reminded me of when my boys were babies because I would only sleep a couple hours and then be awake again. I think part of it is that somehow we subconsciously expect to see them there and we can sense that what we see is not right even when we're not consciously focused on that. Just my theory on that. If you are a very visual person, things like that can really set you off. One thing that finally helped me was to turn "our room" into "my room." I changed out the bed linens, the artwork, the rugs, the lamps. It helped me a lot - I was finally able to sleep longer and better.
I couldn't change everything in the house, that would have been crazy anyway. But having that room really being "my" space gave me a place to catch a break from all the painful reminders that he was gone.
Hope this helps....
