IT GETS HARDER EVERY DAY

I DON'T SEE ANY LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL
SINCE MY HUSBAND PASSED AWAY ON JULY 13 2009
THE DAYS AND NIGHTS ARE SO LONELY ALL I DO IS
CRY.

I GO TO WORK DURING THE WEEK AND WHEN I COME
HOME THE HOUSE IS SO EMPTY.
THE WEEKENDS ARE BAD ALSO. WE ALWAYS DID
THINGS TOGETHER, JUST THE TWO OF US.

MY HUSBAND FELL AT WORK AND HIT HIS HEAD,
HE SURVIVED FOR 14 DAYS BEFORE HE PASSED
AWAY, I WAS BY HIS SIDE DAY AND NIGHT. MY HEART
IS BROKEN INTO PIECES. I MISS HIM SO MUCH.

36YEARS MARRIED, I JUST WAIT FOR THE DAY
GOD COMES FOR ME SO I CAN BE WITH MY HUSBAND
AGAIN.

Hi Marie. Hang in there. I lost my Marti in July as well and it is so lonely. But she would want me to rise above it all and carry on in her legacy. Hopefully we'll start to find these days getting easier. At least we all have each other here on DS. Peace. Kip.

My husband of 32 years died 8/04/09 in a motorcycle accident. I too feel your pain and I'm so sorry you are having to go through this. Some of the best advice I've been given is to take care of myself. At first, it didn't matter whether I ate, or slept (I couldn't) or anything else that I normally did to survive. BUT...my life was going on, forward, even if it didn't care. Once I started walking outside and eating a little better, I started to sleep a little more and gradually feel a lttle better physically. I still cry at the drop of a hat, I think about him constantly and I still have total hopelessness at times. I sense I am better able to cope now than a month ago, though. I know that he would want me to go on and live. Normal won't return - I have to learn a new normal. I don't want to be in this life without him but I am, so....
Keep reading her on DS and maybe some other books about being a widow. Both have helped me. I will pray for you. We will get through this. We will see a light, eventually, at the end of the tunnel. Blessings to you.

Marie, I'm so sorry for your loss. The light at the end of the tunnel is too overshadowed with grief right now. Be kind to yourself and be patient (which is not easy) and keep putting one foot in front of the other. I refer to grief like a dark tunnel. You have to feel your way through with faith that at the end you will gain enough strength to re-discover who you are and find some happiness .
I lost my precious husband of 40 years two years ago and I felt the same way you do now. That bond we had left us feeling less than whole. You can make it through. The light is there. Sharon

Today it is 11 weeks that my husband passed away. The first few weeks I was numb and barely left the house. The worst part is coming back to the quiet, totally empty house. Today when I came back after running errands I remembered he would always say "sweetheart where have you been so long?" The memories are the hardest part for me.Take care.
