Marie, I hear you. I was married a long time. Each day is so very hard...but you know this year Valentine's Day is harder for me too. I am alone this weekend..with my dog...and you know...in addition to missing Jerry.....honestly sometimes I'm scared......

I have people here but am alone in my heart. This is not my first valentines since he has been gone but it still hurts.I am thankful for my DS friends.

Marie I am with you as are many of here. DS does help so look daily for your support. My heart feels like it is broken but I know God won't give us more yhan we can bear. It feels like it now but I know the love you shared for 37 years is irreplaceable. I am praying your strength and less pain daily. Hang in there and hold on.

I know your pain, Marie. Trust me, I feel it too. I've been alone for 4-1/2 months after having Jim for 27 years. Every day is difficult so Valentine's Day is simply just a little worse than the rest of the days....It's so sad....

I will be alone as well. We didn't make a big deal out of valentines day but we would always go for dinner the day before as to avoid the crowd. My sister, mother and I went to lunch today so that sort of filled in..sort of. I miss him every day, Valetine's Day is just a day with a title. I am alone even when people are around. I feel so lonely sometines I thing I am going to explode of it. I know time is the only thing that will eventually help.

Last year we were in the hospital on Valentines' day and that week. I took my mom to a different hospital yesterday and spent las evening and today there. Don't know if I'll go tomorrow. Even though it's not the same hospital, it was difficult today.

Valentine's day was a day that was a special day. Now like everyone else here, it's going to be a difficult day, among many difficults days.

I ask God the same question, why did you take this wonderful man?

I was married for 37 years to my soulmate, Marge. She was diagnosed with cancer on Valentines Day 2008. She lasted 11 months. I am alone and expect to be alone for the rest of my life. I live in LA and there is no shortage of people to sleep with. The problem is finding someone you want to wake up with and be with the next day. No one compares to my Valentine, Marge.

Yes I'm spending the day alone. My husband and I were together 27 years married almost 23 years. He has been gone for 2 years now. The last 2 Valentines my kids were around. This year they are off doing their own thing. This day is hard but for me in 2 more days we would have celebrated our 25 th wedding anniversary. That one will be really hard.

I understand exactly how you feel, Marie. I am alone after 32 years of spending Valentine's Day with my husband. I went to the cemetery early this morning, and brought 4 vases of flowers from my husband's garden. Knowing how much he loved to be surrounded by his flowers, that is, putting the emphasis on him, and taking it off of me, made me feel a tiny bit better. I had to try something different today.

I'm new here . And alone as well . My husband of 24 years took his life in July ..
I am a mess as I miss him so much .
Today I got out . I walked around target . Got dinner at a drive-up window . Parked aside & ate in the car .
I understand the lonliness . It's brutal .

I planned ahead and me and the girls from my grief group had a sleep over...since none of us had hot dates :(
this was the second Valentine's day without my husband and I just did not want to be by myself. We had a great time, eating, watching a movie and just hanging out. Hope you made it through Vday ok.

I had people in the house too, but I'm alone too. I was married 38 years. I miss him so much. I just read a book! At least were all here.

Yesterday was the second year of spending Valentine's Day without DH. It was our wedding anniversary. I don't know that the loneliness ever goes away and am still waiting to "get used to" it.
