Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.

Anyway that's my thoughts and I pray you find some peace and a new place.
Hugs,
Ron
Now first off, you need to know what area you want to live in, you have a dog so you need a place that will accomodate animals. How much room do you need? How permanent do you want this place to be. If it is transitional then a month to month would be best. Oh yea! how much do you want to pay for rent?
You know all of these things, you are just so rattled right now because of your living conditions that you can't think straight. Do you happen to have any friends that are looking for a tempory room mate? That would give you a chance to settle down a bit and regroup and not have to make a choice when stressed.
I am so sorry for the situtation you are in, even when you make your move to where ever your father is going to make you feel awful. He really needs some medical attention maybe a chill pill or two. Hang in there, be smart and focus on your needs.
Hugs Linda
I know it would be expensive, but have you thought about checking into one of those extended stay places? Maybe if you had a couple of weeks to a month of quiet you could think things through and have time to look for a more permanent living situation.
You have tried your best to take care of your father.....now you need to take care of yourself.
Take your time looking, and take a friend who can be a second set of eyes and can think rationally when you can't. Discuss beforehand what you are looking for and what your needs are.
It's a shame you are need to move for peace of mind when you were having so much done in the place you reside now. Some families just can't cohabitate under the same roof. Sounds like you are making a wise decision, but select slowly. Don't be hasty to get something as soon as possible out of desparation.
Blessings, Debbie
I hate doing this, but it is the only way. So let's do a total now. So far this year I've lost a husband, a bird, two dogs, and I feel like a father. Oh, well. How low can I go before I hit bottom? Thanks everyone for the advice.
I agree that you probably should try for short term leasing, just to get into a new place and give yourself a chance to figure out what you want and need. I am staying put in a 3 bedroom home, the one we bought 3 months before Scott was diagnosed. Wild horses wont' get me out of here though lately I have thought about moving, but not anytime soon.
I don't know if there are rules about what kind of place is for family v single v married. I know I'd feel odd in a cul de sac full of kids on bikes - and they'd think me pretty wierd too!
I guess house hunting is one thing that doesn't change when our lives change: when you walk in and feel like you are home, you probably are.
Hope it is going well for you - you deserve some peace.
hugs, Susan
