I’m so sorry for your loss. When you are the primary caretaker for your spouse it’s so hard to have them pass on. I was my husbands primary care person. He passed in February. I was like you...lost in a foggy daze. 51 years together....what is left for me. I have 2 sons with families...everyone is busy with their lives. At first they called and checked on me everyday but as time moves forward they are slacking. I know they always saw me as the strong one...but now I no longer have my husband or him to care for.
As for now, one day at a time.

Hi. Welcome to the place nobody wants to be. Don't worry. We get it. I was married for 30 years and she passed nearly 3 years ago. Like you, I found the only life I ever knew left me when she died. I believe that our spirits are joined when we have true love, and when one dies, there is a spiritual amputation of sorts that occurs. Helps me anyway to even have a smidgen of explanation how this could have devastated me. We lived our entire marriage in the old-fashioned roles -- I provided and she did an unbelievable amount of work running the household. I was one lost puppy when she died. Seems like the past few years I've only done what I wanted or had no choice in doing. For a lot of us, we find ourselves thrown into an aftermath we initially find incomprehensible. To sum it all up, grief sucks. No ifs, ands, or buts. But those ahead of us made through, we will make it through, and those that come after will make it through as well. Seems things don't go as well for me when I leave this place. Too many nice, wise and compassionate people here, all of us mending our broken hearts. Hang in there :) Scottie

I totally get what you are going through. I also cared for my dear partner of 26 years. We loved each other so much,and he was my whole purpose in life. He died this February, and I have no clue where I fit on this earth.

I am so sorry for your loss. I too was with my husband early in life and lost him a little over 3 years ago. I can very much relate to you not knowing what to do with yourself. I still struggle to find a "me" in the world of "us". I would much rather be a part of a couple than be alone. Our lives are thrown into this weird, scary, and unfamiliar place. Its dark and feels funny. But you came to the right place. Here is where you are understood and we are here to listen and offer advice or just a simple hug. The grief journey is a rocky and long one and its not to be faced alone. We each have our own way but we can do it together. Hugs to you

I am so sorry for the loss of you husband. We all understand. I lost my wife of 18 yrs last Oct 2nd. We met as teenagers. 29 yrs she was in my life from friends to fiance to wife. Over 6 months have passed and still just going through each day, one at a time. Have good and bad ones. Just understand we all get it. Hugs to all.
