I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. My best friend and wife passed away 6 months ago and last Friday would have been her 51st birthday. There are some bright spots in my days now. I go to a grief counselor and also a support group that is just people who have lost spouses.

Thanks D.Jay I will start grief counseling soon and I have a friend that is a widow that has been very helpful and uplifting. I’m sorry to hear about your loss. Prayers for all who have lost someone.

My heart goes out to you! Your grief is so fresh. My husband/best friend passed from this world 15 months ago. I can say for me, Yes, it does get somewhat easier but everyone's process and journey is different. Self care is very important. (((hugs)))

I am so glad that you have a friend to help you through this. That is a special gift. She can walk you through this first awful period of grief. It does get better, but it is a back and forth process and for me it was very slow. I can tell you this, I really learned to depend on God through it all. He has been my greatest strength. I will be praying for you as you go through the day to day journey of being without the one that you love.

Thank you cupolatte. I appreciate it and will keep you in my prayers as well. I’m constantly talking to God and he has been giving me strength and I know he will never leave me.

I am going on 6 weeks without my husband and I am about the same age as you! Counseling is helping with realizing grief is normal and all the emotions that come along with it. Nights seem to be the worst. Not sure about the gettin easier part but everyone says it does.

Chattikathy1 I’m sorry for your loss. I am signed up for counseling and the nights are harder for me. I sleep with several lights on in the house. I’ll pray for you on this journey. My husband has been gone now for almost 3 weeks. I’m still having a hard time.

I am sorry for yourn loss. The first weeks, I did the same thing - I had all the lights on all night. My electric bill was huge! I didn't care. Sometimes you have to do the unusual to get through this. The other unusual thing I did was join this group. I'd never belonged to a forum before. Being here helped me, and since then I have rebuilt my life, and now I am here to help those new to this nightmare if I can.

Hi I’m new here, my husband passed April 23, in June we would be married 45 years. He was diagnosed with bladder cancer in November had chemo doing good. Last 6 weeks took a bad turn. I did everything I could for him until he became so weak I could not lift him. Went to hospital passed week later. Like all of u I’m heartbroken.
I am blessed with friends family calling and going out, but at end of day u r alone, I miss him so much. The being alone tugs at my heart. I pray in time it gets better.

It does get easier. I am so much better than I was 3 months ago. That’s not saying I don’t have tears and sadness cause I do, but at least I don’t wake up crying every morning, I’m so glad that stopped! Writing your feelings really helps, it’s a release. Unfortunately you have to go through the stages and it sucks, take it one day at a time and don’t be to hard on yourself, Hugs

So sorry for your loss. I lost my husband about 13 months ago. Things are a little easier but it is still pretty raw. The best thing I ever did was go to GriefShare. It helps being with others who understand what you are going through.
