I highly recommend if possible for all of us to spend some one on one time with a child! I just returned from a week in Colorado with my little three year old grand daughter! Oh the world through the eyes of a child. They live in the moment, what a way to see the world. We had tea parties, She fed her baby (dolly) tea (water) and she wet her diaper. I bet she wet it 30 times and of course we had to check it every time until the little dolly diaper weighted a ton. We bought a little pink Christmas tree that she decorated, we put her daddy and her names on Christmas stockings with glue and glitter to hang on the fireplace. We made orange popcorn balls ( her favorite color). And christmas cookies. She had a blast, we were both covered in flour, sprinkles and frosting, but she was so very proud of her cookies. We sang Christmas carols. She loves Jingle Bells, but when she gets to " oh what fun it is to ride, she breaks into Oh (old) McDonald had a farm. It's absolutely adorable. She got to see Santa again, though she didn't want to sit on his lap. Santa came to her and asked what she wanted for Christmas, she told him everything! ha ha. We went to the Denver zoo for their light festival, to see her eyes light up at so much beauty was magical.
My kids don't talk much of their dad, I am sure it is still so hard for them. But my little grand daughters do. They tell me he is in heaven and he is happy and they love him. And they miss him. I look at them both and see so much of him. This youngest, my little Avah has his eyes. Oh how glorious.
I still cry everyday, I ache for him, I cry because he is missing these wonderful moments with these precious innocent little girls yet hope he is watching as I truly want to believe he is.
I came home absolutely exhausted, but a good exhaustion from actually being with a child, taking the time to cherish her and all her wonder. So maybe this is my purpose, to spend as much time with them whenever and however I can. Forget the damn hustle and bustle of the every day mundain when I am with them. And always continue to keep his memory alive for them. They too had so much, but lost so much!
To those of you that have young children or grand children I know you understand. For those who don't I recommend spending time just observing the little ones. Even if it's just going to the mall or a park or a daycare or school. They truly are life's blessings. Please take the time or make the time to enjoy the simple things in life as if you were still a child. Hugs and Love to you all, Michele

It does miracles.
Then last week I went to my other grand daughters Christmas program. Oh the sheer joy of watching them sing and dance about Christmas. For those forty-five minutes, there was no pain, no sorrow, just a wonderful time, seeing as you said the world through the eyes of these little girls. I am blessed beyond belief with them, and my five grandsons. So thank you very much for this post Michelle, I loved it.
There was a time for quite awhile after my husband died that it hurt to be around them. I was so different, and they made me miss him more. That was a horrible and scary time for me, as they had always been so special in our lives.
We are going out of town for a week at Christmas, so all of my family will be together, just not here where we always have had Christmas. I know there will be some hard times, but I know it will be a healing time for all of us, and these little ones will make it fun, and that would make Papa happy.
Love and hugs to you,
Linda
