Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.

Somehow as women (and Mom) we find the strength to carry on - to continue to provide for the family and look after their well being. Doesn't seem fair that you still are expected to function after the loss of a significant part of your life. Please take some quiet time for yourself in prayer, with a close friend, or alone (walking really helped me). There were days when I wanted nothing more than to lay down and never get up again but our children (to whom we are committed to care) need us. Know that this group is a safe place to cry, howl, or just plain reach out to an understanding ear. We're all members of an unfortunate club that we didn't ask to join and no one else wants to join. We're here for you. God Bless you!
peace and much love ......Sandra
I agree that you have to learn to take care of yourself as well. It has been 2.5 years and I am still learning. To better take care of those around us we need to be kind to ourselves.
Take care.
Peace, Tim
I am so sorry for your loss. Accept help from family and friends, grieve as you need, and do what you have to to take care of youself. My wife and I were in a car accident in which she was killed. I spent 3 months out of work because of my injuries. I found myself barely functioning for the most part, doing only what was necessary at the time. All the plans we had for retirement are gone.
After 9 months I've had time to do a lot of thinking and am facing the fact that I'm lost without her and really have no direction at this point but neither am I on a time table. I guess I'm trying to find out who I am now without her.
Anyway, take it minute by minute, grieve for your loss and remember your children. Take care of yourself as best as you can. Others can't understand the loss we are going through so come here often. I visit here most every day but don't usually post.
Take care,
Kevin
