It's almost been 7 months since my DH was killed by our apartment. I have since moved from that hell hole as of the first of this month, yet for some reason I've been crying when I was packing, during the move, and now here at the new apartment :( This morning I was super crying for at least a half hour straight; I usually try not to cry like that in front of our 2 yr old son but I just couldn't help it.. I need to go to the grocery store for a few things, but I don't feel like leaving the house. Last night I had to force myself to take my trash out. I just feel like being curled up in a ball in my bed but I have to take care of our baby. I've been told that the stages of grief comes in different waves so I guess this is my tidal wave...

I too have a young child. Mine is 7. Its really hard to mom sometimes. I want to just fall apart but I can't. There are times when I don't really have a choice so I am lucky then to have grandmas who can take her for me. Or I am lucky when bedtime rolls around so I can just collapse. That said, I am not hiding my emotions around her. I feel that showing her how I am feeling them and coping with them may help her in the long run.
Hugs!
I have to force my self to do things too. If the world would let me, I'd like to stay in bed for a year or two. I don't have children at home, so it probably wouldn't be that difficult for me to make myself into a hermit. However, I know that if I did just suddenly quit my job and stayed in all the time- over the course of time it would only make me feel worse.
I kept my two and a half year old granddaughter this past weekend. I love her so- but being with her hurts a smidgen too, because her grandfather is not getting to watch her grow up and she is only going to know how wonderful he was and how she had him wrapped around her little finger second hand. I catch myself crying silent tears in front of her on a fairly regular basis. Sometimes she notices, other times she doesn't. When she does notice she'll get really close to me and hug me, or tilt her head and quizically look at me and I'll wipe my tears away and say it's alright. She'll then return to whatever she was doing- and doesn't seem to be bothered by it after the reassurance.
I think that even very small children can sense grief. But, I don't think they are overwhelmed by it as long as they are reassured that we are going to be okay and that we are not sad because of something they have done.
I think a lot of what you are experiencing is within the "Normal Range," of someone facing your difficult loss. Don't beat yourself up about it. As long as you continue to force yourself to do what needs to be done, you are overcoming this beast called grief. Hang in there!
Peace, Tim
my husband was a mans man and never fond of those things...somehow it empowers me to know I made it thus far through the many tears and endless nights... Proud of your courage to move....I just keep praying my butt off for relief through this unchosen journey...
