I've never been a collector of anything, but my perspective changed as to the material being even more meaningless and impermanent after my mom died. She was a collector of sorts - didn't hoard or anything, but liked figurines, house stuff and whatnot. Everything that was so 'prized' to her was simply packed away in boxes when she was seriously ill and then given to me when she passed. I sold or gave away the majority of it. I thought what's the point here? None of this was ever important to begin with.
Years later when I met Will, he was totally on the same wavelength with the materialism. We both believed it was more important to be who you are, live the kind of life you want than to owe so much to someone. We moved to New Mexico and lived in a 600 sqft mobile home he set up with solar/wind, as that was his dream. We moved shortly before he passed, to a 500 sqft cabin.
Alysha has the same struggles many of us do, and it is interesting to see how someone else deals with it, how they find answers and eventually see the light. It all about reinventing a new life for ourselves, and slowly and deliberately turning that tragedy into positivity and living past the grief.
