First of all I want to say I am so sorry for your loss. The first year is a very painful period and a true emotional rollercoaster. Rather than goals I would encourage you to just be nururing and kind to yourself. Grief is a full time job. I would also encourage you to post here as often as you feel the need to. These strangers have been very dear to me because of the compassion, support and insight they have given me over the last 2 years. There is no right or wrong way to do this journey but we are here to walk with you because we 'get it'. Wishing you gentle days.

You have come to a good, loving and safe place. This is a journey none of us asked for, yet here we are. I am so sorry for your loss, but know that we will walk with you as you travel this path. We've all been where you are now. Try to be kind and gentle with yourself for now; beyond doing what you absolutely have to do for yourself and grandchild every day; know that it's ok if that is all you can do right now. There will be other days for setting other goals. Come here as often as you want to, we'll be here for you; and I think you'll find, in time, that we've become a family here in a way; what may have started as "talking to strangers" for each of us, has become a vast network of sincere, compassionate friends. I am very sorry for your loss. You will find that people on this site understand what you are going through.
You are managing grieving, work and a 20 month old.... I wold say that is some pretty amazing progress. Don't let others try to rush you through mourning your husband.

I'm sorry for the loss of your husband. It sure sounds like you're plugging away and doing the best you can and I can relate to the feeling of barely covering the basics. I've learned a lot from the friends who share on these forums and have read that it doesn't suddenly stop hurting. This mourning can't be rushed and it can't be overcome without our working at it.

I always hate using the term welcome to this site but I'm glad you found us. It amazes me how people find this site. I found it just by doing a search on Google. I assume you did too. I think I'll start another thread on that but I'm glad you are here. I know you are having a bad time now. Especially having to raise a 20 month old. You have to take care of yourself and the little one. That is your focus now. Come here often, no matter what time it is there is generally someone who will respond.
The special people on this site probably saved me during the first 2 years after my wife passed. Just know the first year after this kind of a loss is bad but sometimes the second year is worse. I think knowing that will help you to realize you can get through it. You never forget, you never " get over it" but you learn to accept it.

We're a great bunch of grieving folks that didn't ask nor want to be here . . but here we are.
