Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
For me,I was in a fog the first 2 months, feeling his presence around me but knowing he was not here physically. I would hug his pillow at night and cry.
I might suggest you visit with your nurse practitioner. I have never been on any medication for anything but she suggested and prescribed 50mg of Zoloft for me - to take the edge off is what she said. I believe it has helped. I don't cry as much and am able to get things done better.
Please allow yourself to mourn, to be angry, etc. Your blessing is that beautiful daughter you and your husband created. You will always have your husband with you through her.
Come back here often. We are all here for you.
Take care, Jeff
You are in the midst of shock and grief. I understand your need to be strong for your daughter, this is a positive that will motivate you to move on. However, I wouldn't make any precipitous life altering decisions right now . . . you don't have to. (As in getting rid of his things.) I'm almost ten months in and still have 90 plus percent of my husband's things hanging around, exactly as he left them. We are all different, and some may feel a need to rid the memories of the lost one, and others, like me, might find them of comfort. Trust YOUR journey . . you will know when the time is right to confront each and every decision that will need to be made in the coming days and months ahead. Take it one day at a time. I'm so sorry for you and your daughter's loss. We will be here for you on DS, come share as often as you need to . . . we are a wonderful community of "strength" for each other. Hugs and prayers to you. xo, Dayna
