That's a tough one, and I don't envy your having to face this situation. If I were you, I would go and be gracious--smile in their direction, return a greeting if anyone approaches you, but mainly just try to be there for Rhonda. That was good of her to clue you in ahead of time. If I thought they were going to be confrontational in any way I would have trouble attending, but if they are simply planning to ignore you, is that tolerable for you? It might bring up some painful emotions for you, but it's commendable that you want to support your husband's sister. Hugs, Amy

Well two yrs speaks volumes of them, and you visiting her sounds like it meant alot to her. And going through what she did with her husbands illness she probably knows what its like to take care of a sick spouse.

I think their acknowledgement at this time would not mean much. Unless they truly say they are sorry. Families sometimes can just be BUTTS, consider the source, be the better person go for Rhonda. If they become confrontational smile & say "Thats nice" It ticked my husbands sons off when thats all I would say.
AND altho' I was ticked off the way they treated me I did not ever let them push me to be confrontational! I WANTED TO believe me. Friends kept them from hararassing me luckily at his memorial BBQ.

YOu go to the service and take the high road. If they snub you...ignore it. It's not your problem..it is theirs...do not let it change your feelings for your sister in law.

I believe you will be blessed with a peaceful heart by not giving into their pettiness. It doesn't sound as though they are worthy of your concern. Being there for Rhonda is the main concern, not their child-like behavior. Blessings to you as you hold your head high and show them a gracious spirit, and it will exemplify the type of lady that their brother marriedone who has a compassionate heart. If they think/thought otherwise, shame on them for their judgmental attitude and unkindness to you during a very difficult time. TJ

Go for Rhonda and ignore the others. They stopped being family 2 years ago. It sounds like you and Rhonda can be good friends for each other. Go for her.

I would like to thank everyone for their input. Everything went smoothly. I was greeted by my late Husband's Brother and his wife who inquired about how I am doing, that is all for them. i was snubbed by his Brother-In-Law completely and his Sister acknowledged me by saying hello, I in turn said hello to her and that was the whole entire conversation. I felt very comfortable with the rest of the family and his Mother apologized for not calling me and keeping in touch. Thankfully I didn't stress!

One more thing, Rhonda was very happy that I was there and I was able to keep her company overnight by staying.
