Don't discard these babies, it's not their fault!
This is really a big problem......I am glad you reached out, here for answers.....please don't decide on anything rash...you would never forgive yourself!
Sedative is a good idea to get them into the car....the animal shelter would put them down after a short time ( in a very quick and traumatic way) if they are not adopted..Not the nicest ending for them!
I would go to every source for adoption and take every measure possible.......including putting ads on Craigslist and Kijji...( of corse research the applicants first). You really have a HUGE decision here, I hope and pray you can resolve it in the right way...for you and The dogs,
Sandra.
As for the animal shelter, they will most definitely put them down (especially if they are unadoptable) and they will suffer in the meantime. Call your VET and ask them their advice and if you need to put them down, ask if they can help you. I recently had to put one of my adopted dogs down after she killed a neighbor's dog. She was the sweetest thing (so I thought, but I didn't know her history prior to the adoption). I couldn't have her hurting another, thus the decision to "humanely" put her down. I took her to our vet who euthanized her . . . she simply went to sleep, without suffering.
I wish you the best in this tough decision. It is my deepest hope that you will find a positive outcome for the babies. Hugs to you, Dayna

OldCM - I had to see the end of life for our old dog last week and it is hard to lose further connections with our loved ones. You have had some very tough decisions at an already tough time.
Warm regards
Sandy
My heart goes out to all of us that have had to make that decision to send our "babies" to heaven.
