My heart is with you too Lisa and everyone here! This will be the first Thanksgiving in 40 years that I haven't spent with my Ira. We met as teens and that was that. So...my pies just came out of the oven, I poured myself a diet iced tea and peach brandy...I could sit here and cry but I think I'll pass for now. What I'm going to try to do tonight and tomorrow is remember the great times we had together. For that I am eternally thankful. Without such a great love I wouldn't feel such a huge loss. But it was worth it. Every single minute I spent with him was treasured. To every thing there is a season. We were very fortunate to have had such a long one.
To everyone out there missing their partner, I'm so sorry. We will get through this. Somehow, somewhere, sometime the sun will come out again. No, it won't and never will be the same. But that's okay. So tomorrow, let's count our blessings for what we were so lucky to have had...and not what we lost. We can get back to that on Friday!

I'm feeling less and less lonely and not nearly as sad as I used to be. And, you know what they say about "used to be's"; "they lay on the floor until you sweep them away!"

GLE: It does get easier, not better, just easier to face those holiday's and just regular days without our loves. We were so lucky weren't we? I ALWAYS knew it, I always knew that I was so, so lucky to be loved by this man. Now, we have to relish in that love and remember there are more who NEVER had it and NEVER will know it.....we were the lucky one's!

This is my second year without my husband, and for the newly widowed, I can say it will get easier. The pain will ease, and you'll be able to look back on your memories of previous holidays and smile.

Thank you for your generous wishes and I hope you find some moments to smile. Since Don died in June of 2007 this will be my 9th Thanksgiving and Christmas without him. I can say that they have changed over the years. The first few years I dreaded the thought of them approaching, but I eventually began to find the anticipation worse than the day. I still can get a little melancholy before the day, but I am again enjoying the holidays except for that little tare in my heart where he remains. Sharon
