Did your husband have a friend who shared his interest in cars? Do you have a brother, cousin or family friend who could help you decide how to approach this? It is always difficult to start this process, especially if we don't know exactly "how."

I can remotely relate to this. My husband died 6 yrs. ago, and my middle -aged son has his dad's 1987 El Camino. It runs, but needs to be protected if he isn't going to sell it. It is a family joke that he is going to clean up the El C and sell it. The latest date is this weekend! I know why it's hard for him, but it is going to be worth very little if he continues to let it sit in the weather.

Hmmm . . . I have several cars that Jim left that are worth a small fortune. I want to keep one, but not sure it''s really worth the hassle. Still in probate here: but I often wonder if I do get the cars, what would I do with them? They are beyond my means (insurance and taxes). I think I'm simply left with a fantasy of driving them one last time in his honor before selling. ??

Otherwise, I will find the greatest salesman on earth to sell for me, auction or fixed price.

Again, just want to drive them one last time.

PS . . . there are many car brokers out there on the net that will help you sell the cars. Simply "google", seek and ye shall find.

Thanks for the ideas. No friends since we had quit the show car circuit several years back. He has two brothers that did not share his love of engines and have been very hands off. I had originally that one of them would want his work truck, but I was wrong. I had thought about looking up the value to determine how much I should ask, but then I don't know how to account for chrome, super perf chips, mag rims and tires.

One of them was a show car and another one is older. Just wish I could turn all this over to someone and them do right by me. It is so hard.

Again, there are some honest classic car brokers out there that can assess value and sell these cars for you. Do your homework . . . and research. The right fit will find you . . . keep us posted. xo, D

I only have 2 classics. The other 5 range from 1998-2013. I also have a jet ski and motorcycle. I feel like I could start a car lot. It seems overwhelming with everything else.

HI I totally understand what you are saying my husband collected and restored 50's cars I have many of the cars he restored and many of
cars that were just bought for parts cars for the restoration laying around. I too feel paralyzed. I know I need to start selling some of them and salvaging the parts cars but just the thought of matching titles and getting them put in my name stops me. Hi, I'm sorry for your loss, please don't do anything to quickly. I'm sure your husband had records of what was done to each car. Find these and contact a reputable auction house that deals in cars, and have them appraised first.

Side note, dschwartz, 69 was one of the worst years for Corvette's. They put in a bigger motor, and left in the small radiator so they have a lot of overheating problems.
