This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
May strength and peace be with you. Hugs, Dolores
I'm glad that you've found your to us and paradoxically sorry that you needed to.
I posted this song as a thank you to our members and hope that after you view it you feel a sense of community. As Angela so rightly said, you are not alone.
With you in spirit, Ellen

First, I am so sorry for the loss and what you are going through. Today is 7 months to the day when my dear Lisa passed, 18 yrs of marriage, she was only 45 yrs old. It does get easier but I still cry alot. Evenings are tough. I too took great comfort with our dog. Sadly, I just got home a couple hrs ago, had to have her put down. She was 13 and a half so had a good long life, but got home Monday and it was obvious something bad had happened.
It just brought back all the emotions from loosing my wife and best friend. Be strong, it does get easier, but I still struggle alot. Life seems unfair at times, I feel I have been cheated out of the next "chapter" Just know we all understand and have had/still have the same feelings and emotions.

Its been a year since my wife passed and I remember when I was at your stage. It is like you are living with her without her being there. I think it is a part of grief. After a year I am finally out of the fog that grief created. I still miss my wife everyday but I am able to deal with it better each day.Unfortunately there is no time frame for grief. Everybody deals with it differently so the time frame is different.
Take care of yourself. One thing I did learn from grief is that life moves on. Either with us living it or not living it. Hang in there.

It has been 3 and a half years since I lost my husband. I miss him every day. In the early minutes, hours, days and months I thought I would die (sometimes wished I would) Its a fog and a pain that is indescribable. Personally I thought that when the calendar said it has been six months, a year and so on I would be feeling remarkably better. Not exactly... Our grief is very personal and our journey is different. I have to say that the pain has dulled and I can now speak my husband's name with out instant tears. Grief has a way of moving us along with out our knowledge. Some times with out our consent... Things will change and some of those changes will be rough and some will help you cope. Our minds have a way of protecting us until we are ready for the next step. Hang in there by taking care of yourself and not stuffing away your feelings. Listen to your needs. Coming here often has helped me and I encourage you to do the same. Hugs to you
Lisa
