Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
Every one here has had a loss. They are a wonderful group and are here for you. The ages vary but we all share the same hurt. Take one day at a time.
If there is a bereavement group in your area it may help to attend some of the meetings. My thoughts are with you and your daughter. May you have strength and peace at this difficult time. Hugs, Dolores
I am very sorry for your loss. Three weeks ago your entire life changed, the same as mine did 3 months ago, the same as everyone here at some point. I came here just days after my wife passed looking for the answer. I found a group of warm, caring people who have listened without judgement, even in my darkest moments. I journal on this site, getting my feelings and thoughts out of my head, because doing so makes me feel a little better. This is so new. Try to sleep. Remember to eat. Take care of yourself and your daughter. Sending some love your way. Justin
I hope you're getting some counseling. I needed it, and so did my sons. I got my counseling for free through an Employee Assistance Program at work. It also provided counseling for my older son. My younger son was still in school, so he received counseling for free from his guidance counselor and the school psychiatrist. You might consider seeing if that is available for your daughter. It was important for us to work with my son's teachers, as he went through all the phases of grief, too, and his teaching team were able to be supportive and know what to expect. I would urge any parent of a child suffering this kind of loss to see if the school can help. Remember, your tax dollars paid for it so you shouldn't feel bad about asking for it either.
I am sorry you need to be here but glad you found us. I hope it helps you. Welcome.
Love and Hugs,
Martha, Community Leader
