I lost mine 5 weeks . I pulled all our photos off the wall. I cant bear to look at them. All i do is cry. All of our vacation photos bring me to tears. I do know the feeling. I cant look at any of his things without crying for hours. Its been a rough weekend. We had plans and should be in NC this holiday weekend. Its been miserable. I do understand what you feel. Im going thru it with you. The folks on here have been great to me. Very comforting. I hope they respond with better insights. Its too soon for me.

Whitedoves, Thank u for responding. Like you I can’t look at photos, I cry too. Our cabin is in northern Michigan and the plans we had this year up there I can’t think about without crying for hours. Glad I’m not alone. Hugs

I'm so sorry. It's still very new. The cabin sounds like a lovely place. Perhaps in time as you heal you will feel different and you will look forward to going there with the family. Go slowly, one day at a time. Do the best you can with each day. It will take a while but in time you will feel better. Take care of yourself. Exercise can improve how you feel. I don't have any framed photos up either. They are all in boxes. I am wondering what to do with pics of the in-laws and outlaws? You may have read some of my posts; I keep small "memory" totes in the garage. I did run across one of his patriotic ties today in a dresser drawer. I feel bad not going tomorrow to "visit" him, but at the same time, I may wait. I'd rather wait till everything is in place. As far as memories, I hope that someday the good will overlap the bad. It takes time to get to that place, if one ever does.

Sancan, I lost my wife of 40+ years in October and I think as others have said, it takes time. This is the beginning of a long, often painful journey. But with good support from family and friends, I think you can bear the journey. To me, trying a visit with a few friends rather than family might be a good idea. But be easy on yourself, and let everyone know you are trying but it may be more than you can handle. Even if it is, you will have made a step forward in trying. I think the important thing is not to lose faith in yourself or in God (if that is part of your beliefs). This is a very hard struggle and it isn't easy. We all have to deal with it in our one time and way, but you don't have to do it alone. I have found the letters and support from the folks in this group are a major comfort and inspiration to continue moving forward on this awful journey. I will keep you in my prayers. joe-

Sancan, we have two homes. Ive been needing to go to our other house to check on it and clean up and i cant face it. Please do things on your own time. Dont force yourself. I forced myself to dinner one night with my family and spent the entire time in public crying. It wasnt good. We had to leave tje restaurant. I couldnt choke back my tears. I knew it was too soon and i wasnt ready

I want to return to cabin. 8387 your word about going with a friend is what I am going to try before the July 4th week. I want to be there, and yes I have faith god will give me strength to do this.

I now live at our lake house and this weekend has been very hard. Thank God for my youngest son who is staying here with me this summer. There have been lots of firsts..taking the boats out, kayaking, paddle boarding...all things that brought on many tears. Everything feels wrong without my husband. I'm having our big 4th of July party..my kids' friends are flying in from all over. My guess is I will be hiding in our bedroom crying for much of the time. I am suppose to be spending the summer figuring out what I want to do with the rest of my life. I am so far from having any clue.

I don’t think I can go to cabin alone, my friend told me today she would come with me for a day or two just to do whatever I need to do. That’s sounds better then with a big family around. Then I hope by the 4th I can be there with everyone. Hurting inside, crying alone, and no one really understanding what we all feel. He was my first and only love.

I know what you mean its been 1 month and 8 days since my wife Patrice passed away and I brake down and cry when I see her pictures and any time I see her cat I think of her. I can still smell her sent around the house and sometimes I go looking for her but in side I know she is in heaven. I too spent today alone. It was a very difficult day for me. God I just want to be back in her arms again. Is how I'm feeling. Anyone else have days like this?

Yes I do have days like you do and nights. I can’t sleep right now 3:00 a.m. I understand when you say you just want to be with them..
It’s 5 weeks and I feel like I’m crying more missing him more.. some days are worse then others, this was a very bad emotional weekend.. I know how you feel. We all do.
I’m know God is giving us the strength we need.

My husband and I bought a second home in the country 9 years ago. I spent an entire weekend alone there since he died on 9/30/15 for the first time recently. It has taken this long for me to be able to do that and be ok. I had a difficult moment but that was it. I think I can finally enjoy being there as I love it so much. But it holds such special memories and when I'd go it was heartbreaking. Give yourself a lot of time to grieve and to learn to cope with this huge loss. I can say time has helped me move toward healing. Never stop missing them but ever so slowly I've gotten to a place where I can think of him and smile instead of crying. I never thought it would happen. God Bless Marybeth
