Weird question, I know, but has anyone traveled to Dubai and, if so, did you by any chance take antidepressant meds with you? I have an upcoming trip there and found the 49-page list of restricted medications for people traveling into the UAE. Antidepressants are a big no-no (as are allergy meds and cold medicines), so I'm trying to find out how likely I am to get my meds in through customs, provided I have an original prescription from my Dr. I'm afraid that the combination of jet lag and going cold turkey on my antidepressant medication could be ugly. Any wisdom you can offer would be appreciated. CJ

I wouldn't take any chances on slipping it in. I've never been there, but traveled a lot back in the day. I would suggest trying to get your prescription filled once you're there.

I would contact the American consulate anyway. It's amazing how much easier things can go if they know that you are coming. Do not try to "sneak" anything in, they're pretty damn thorough

Never been but wouldn't want to go either. I would be too afraid to go there or any other place like it. If you were to get accused of something, God only knows what would happen to you.

All I can say is my nephew went there and did a big photo shoot, for royalty no less, and they stiffed him!

as tough as foreign countries are on drugs, I wouldn't take any thing that might be considered a drug....I don't care that in this country we can carry any kind of legal drug on us and not get into any trouble...the saying goes: when in Rome, do as the Roman's do...and if they have a 49 page list of no-no's, for get it...don't take anything where you might end up in prison...

Yes i had made my travel a couple of times nd best thing i note when i was there is the hospitality of the emirates. They are widely apprreciatbele

Obviously, it is your very 1st trip. I haven't travelled there myself but know a lot of people who went and came back very impressed. Unless you have a serious condition, From where I live in Europe, it is a 5-hour trip. if I were you I would slowly taper down and go without drugs. Look, you will be so so impressed. It is a crazy world there, sky-scrapers beyond belief, markets, sun, spa hotels and excellent cuisine. Depending on where you live in the States, it is winter and probably a bit monotonous for you (and I don't dare to address the whole issue of widowhood you deal with) but Dubai - I feel you'll love it! And since you say you are Christian, I will pray for a safe and fun trip for you!
