I tried to start a grief support group for young women through my church and was turned down. The reason is that...as my pastor says, I might be the only young widow in the community. Maybe that's a good thing that others like me have not had to go through this.

I like this idea. Do you facilitate it or how do your meetings work? I currently help with celebrate recovery at church but it is for anyone with hurts, hang ups or habits. I need to talk with other widows sometimes.

We rotate facilitators, it's all spelled out in the started kit.... quick scenario..... start on time, ask everyone to turn cell phones off, no
cross talk, we are a support group, go around ask everyone to introduce themselves and how their spouse died, a bit about themselves, then we go around and tell a victory and a challenge we
had the previous week ... sometimes it takes up the 2 hours, if it doesn't we discuss a topic, like tell a funny story about your spouse,
there is a list in the starter kit, we have several people who have been
in other grief groups, believe me, it's not the came as being with widowed only.... I'll help anyway I can .....

Do you include widowers, too? Or is it an all-female thing?
