I am so sorry for your loss. You may also wish to check with your local area hospice to see if there is a group near you. You can also check with your doctor's office, they may have some information, or the funeral home that handled the arrangements may have local info, too. Your priest or pastor may also be able to help you find a face-to-face group.

I am sorry you needed to find us, but glad you did find us. I always thought widows were people in their 80's. Then I lost my husband to a heart attack when I was 50 and learned the hard way that not everybody gets to hang onto the one they love that long. For me, I was the only widow in my peer group, even my older friends still had their hubbies. I know at young age, it is going to be even harder. We do have some members here who likewise are in your age group, and I hope you and they will connect. If you would like to introduce yourself on the main Discussion board, that would help let people know you are here and help you get acquainted.

I am quite a bit older than you but our hospice group had a mix of old and young and I found it quite comfortable. I also went to a Grief Share program sponsored by a local church. Grief Share is more religious oriented and I am not religious, but I told them and they were still welcoming. I found it very helpful too. I see by your profile that you are not that far from a big city that should have all kinds of groups. Call and talk to the group leader to get a feel for the program and visit until you find one (or more) where you fit in. I really looked forward to the meetings just to have a reason to get out of the house and be around people who understood what I was experiencing.I lost my wife in an accident 2.5 years ago and I was present at the scene, I know how horrible it is. So much healing has taken place for me since then and it will for you too, it's just painfully slow. Good luck, Martin

I attend Griefshare counseling at a local church and it seems to be helping me - I think just going and being with people who have experienced different levels of grief makes me realize we are not alone in this journey. We also have this wonderful website right here where you might ask questions you might not ask in a more personal setting. I also went to a counselor on a one to one basis. Do what feels comfortable to you and know we are all here for you!

I agree with Martha. I tried several private therapists before finding the Hospice counselor who was wonderful. I'm so very sorry for your loss and the pain you are dealing with. Big hugs

I am so sorry for your loss, and I welcome you to this group. I found a wonderful therapist and he is helping me so much.

there are really no good face to face groups in my area....the local hospice only has a group for 6 weeks....not nearly enough time.

Hospice had a list of support groups in my local area. I still attend a group and feel the support each week gets me through. I have also attended Grief Share, more religious orientated and a wonderful 13 week program. Much peace to you and sorry for your loss. We are here for you....

My doctor has referred me to a grief counsellor in my area. not sure how that will work as my first appointment is this week. Not sure i am ready to share one on one, but we will see how that goes. One thing though, this site has allowed me to open up more then i ever believed possible. Going through this journey and having people here who understand is wonderful. I don't feel nearly as isolated in my grief. I am so sorry for your loss. Big Hug Patti
