This has been the hardest thing I've ever done. I was 40 when my husband passed away. My daughter had turned 14 one week earlier. My sons were 20 and 21. We were a family heavily involved in our church. My kids left the church. My daughter HATED God. She was absolutely right that God didn't answer her prayers. The fact that my kids left the church devastated me. I held on. I even went the Sunday after he passed. My life, my grief. The first few times my daughter tried to go back, something painful happened for her. Argh!
Last week, she went on Mission Trip to Mississippi. I picked her up today and one of the first things she told me was that she "got God back in her life."
The healing happens. Don't give up. It is definitely tough to lose your spouse. The last 6 months, my daughter made comments about how I healed so quickly. ( she thought I didn't have a human heart.) I had to get healthy for her. I had to heal for others around me.
The biggest step forward in my healing occurred when I heard those words today... "I got God back in my life."
I know that with God in her life, my job is easier. Her life is easier.
