I choose to remember his proposal 18 yrs ago today. I was laying in bed feeling overwhelming sadness when I made a conscious decision to try to remember some good times. I can't believe I forgot he proposed on Valentines day! I am focusing on that today and I might cry but they will be good tears. I miss him terribly but he really made my life wonderful and I need to remember that today!

Remembering the good times is positive and helps you move through your grief. It is often not easy, but worth it. As time passes you will remember more and more. Sharon

I did something similar today thanks to an idea shared with me by one of my e-friends. I don't drink much anymore but this morning I bought a six-pack of 8-oz beers and had one at dinner tonight. Before sitting down to eat I raised my beer toward my partner's cremains urn and toasted him for his life, the 23 years we had together, how they were the best years of my life, and reminded him how much I loved him and now miss him.

That may seem crazy to others, but it felt right to me. Remembering the good times! Can't beat it.
