Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers. They were much appreciated!
The weekend was a good one. Not perfect but good. There were 7 participants there--5 divorced and 2 widows. The other widow was only 36 with 4 young children and her husband passed away just 6 months ago. So very tragic.
It was a pretty typical format--a talk, time for journaling and small group discussion. They got us up early and kept us up late! We did OK blending the divorced and widowed but I think it might have gone a little better had it been all one or the other. We were all women--the participants and the facilitators. Most thought that was an advantage.
I crossed a major hurdle while there. I had not been able to journal about anything up to this point and was finally able to do that. This morning we were to write to our spouses and say good-bye to our marriages. That was very cathartic for me. I experienced a lot of peace after that.
I may have also found a traveling companion! She is a divorcee who is my age. We connected immediately and seem pretty compatible. She wants someone to share expenses with her and she seems fairly open about where to go. We are going to chat and decide where and when we want to make our first trip. I am so excited!!!
It was time well spent for me and I am glad that I decided to go. I would have preferred it to be all widowed people but I am in a sparsely populated area so am just grateful that this was available.
Glad you achieved, some goals and met a potential travel friend.
I am happy that your retreat was a success,
Hugs to you,
Sandra
