There is a tremendous amount of truth in your thought bubble. I used to worry about things. That is probably one of the greatest changes in me the loss of my spouse has brought. Most things seem so trivial now. There is a inner strength that rises up when you survive a brutal loss. Gerald

I wish there was a "like" option because I would be "liking" your post and Gerald reply. It brings up to the forefront things that most of us would have not figured out had life not thrown a nasty blow our way.

My counselor reminds that every time I see her. Let life lead the way. Nothing could every be as bad as the death of my husband. So I agree squeege do not fear the future let it come, live it, embrace it, and welcome it.

I agree! I feel like all I can do is to live each day to the fullest. I try not to fear things I can't control. There's little in the world that could be worse than the phone call I got on that awful day. You speak the truth, my friend.

I think you are right here Pete, But sometimes it is just hard to remember that and to do it. Right now I don't think I can think that way, maybe later it will come to be.

Well, not so fast...yes, and no, it depends. One thing for sure, loosing a loved one, is the hardest blow, and you might feel that you have been close to what I call "the other side" awareness of your own mortality.

However, being on this site for a while, you might read more horror stories where the loss of a spouse was just a beginning. Some lost homes. became literally homeless, or faced other tragedies such as their own health problems , financial crisis, or loosing family, because family relationships deteriorate irreversibly sometimes as a result of the loss.
So, if you feel fearless now, maybe because your circumstances are different from the other survivors, than you count your blessings; or perhaps, it is because you are still numb.
Either way, one thing is for sure, this life event makes you wiser, and shakes you to the core,and you begin to see what is important , and what is mundane.

I love your thought bubble. It actually helped me today. I am struggling to sleep at night and stay up during the day. I miss him at night a lot, and don't want to sleep in case I miss something. I may be stoic about some things, but at night - not so good. Thanks!
