I am so happy to have found this support group. My grief journey has been difficult for me, and I am learning from all of you to maintain hope and faith. My precious husband passed away in October after a three year battle with aggressive metastatic prostate cancer. He will always be the light and the love of my life. He was a wonderful man who provided laughter, love and happiness to my days. We were married for 27 years, and were never able to have children. However, our lives were filled with incredible friends and wonderful family. My husband was a golf-aholic and enjoyed the camaraderie of a great group of fellow golf buddies.
Perhaps you can tell by my user name that we were dog lovers. Our two labrador retrievers provided much happiness. My husband was home on hospice care and the dogs would lie beside or under his bed at all times.
I miss him terribly and all I want to do is have him pull in the driveway, come in the back door and yell, "What's for dinner?!"
I went to Mass on Christmas Eve and did alright. But coming home to a quiet home was just unbearable. The pain of missing him can be excrutiating at times. I don't want to "wish the holidays away," but I am ready for the "nothingness" of January. Thank you for providing me this outlet...I have read and benefitted from many of your posts.
