Though you loved your spouse, very much, and could not imagine living without them,
you will begin to discover that you are doing things that they would not have much been
interested in doing, and you are meeting people you would not have met when they
were alive, and all this will change your life for the better , though you might not think so now.....

I agree with this. It has happened for me. I have met 2 new friends and we have become close friends. They never even knew my husband but they cheerfully listen when I mention short stories of something we did together or stories of the heartached we went through together. My old friends are silent. So my phone calls and activities are with my new friends, not the old. Also, I am spending more time with my grandchildren and am spending one whole day a week cleaning the church (I'm retired). I still would trade my old life with my new life in a heartbeat, but that's not possible, so I try to focus and appreciate the new and good things that have happened in the last year.

i am having trouble meeting anyone new, or continuing any friendship that i have had, or should still have....i find i just go home and no wheres else..its been almost 2 years...i just dont seem to be interested in being with my old friends..and their spouses...and i know that is really odd of me...i would like to have new friends...ones that i could have a cup of coffee with, or shop with once in a while...but am afraid to...not sure why...

Here's where I met the 2 new friends mentioned in my post above. The first one was the lady who sold me the grave monument. Can you believe it? The second one is the other lady who cleans the church with me. She is the age of my daughter and just loves me to death. We talk, e-mail, go to lunches, etc.

The answer to where to find new friends is to go about your business - volunteer work is a great place to find new friends.
