Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
I am glad you took the first step and found a new social connection. You sound better, more positive since the time you had joined that group.
I am doing the same, reaching out, because nobody can do it for me.
The loss often changes the address book, many previous relationships does not survive the change.
It is up to the survivor to do this restorative work, and you are doing it.
Blessing
Everybody does it! *wink*
You really hit the nail on the head wthis ~
"I know I could not do this when I first lost my wife and I don't expect many of you too, But when you are ready and you will know when that is,"
It could be some aren't ready, can't get out of bed, simply not interested or can't find the car keys, the thought of work involved in showering is too daunting, afraid of blowing snot bubbles in public, etc. Grief just makes people sick ~
I was like that early out ~
So really & truly it has nothing to do w/you ~ *smile*
What I do find valuable was your interactions w/others while still being newly widowed ~
Your last post was very insightful as far as giving others a heads up on what could happen to prepare themself if they are ever caught in an uncomfortable situation & to be careful w/making assumptions about another person ~
We all know grief causes irritability, snap judgements, purdy much low level to highly charged anti-social behavior ~
These are the things everyone needs to think about before exposing themself socially too soon ... not just for one's self but for others as well ~
We are all connected; we all have an impact on one another big or small. We might be approached by a scuzbag or someone who is simply a social butterfly trying to make more friends or who is recovering from (?) or learning how to socialize or new in town, etc. Who knows for sure till directly asking about their intentions or through blatant unmistakable body language ~
Please continue to post about your adventures, how it went, how you handled your emotions & situations, etc ~
They would be most appreciated ~
