This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
This is also our first thanksgiving with G. I was always the cook, so I will be making a dinner, since I know that's what he'd want. I will put on as happy a face as possible, but inside I know that it will suck!! I know we will all get through these holidays, and come out on the other side. I have faith in all of us!!!
I loved the quote, and would like to share one of my own. We had these on our remembrance cards for G., and I look at them from time to time to keep me on an even keel, when things get really rough.
"When I come to the end of the road, and the sun has set for me. I want no rites in a gloom filled room. why cry for a soul who is set free?
Miss me a little, but not too long, and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared. Mioss me, but let me go.
for this is a journey we all must take, and each must go alone. When you are lonely, and sick of heart,go to the friends we know, and bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss me.....but let me go."
that quote helps me to remember him, all that he was and still is to us, but let him be at peace, knowing we are here, taking care of thigs for him. Being happy for him, and because of him.
I wish you a peaceful holiday, and a smile with family.
Diane
May you and your family find peace this holiday season.
