My first too. I'm going to Phoenix to his brothers and my sister-in-laws house. I'm so excited. They were here a few months ago and the hug i got from his brother was soooo comforting. It let me know I'm still part of the family and they love me for me. It also felt good because his brother is the closes person to my husband. I can't wait to see them again. I am a little worried because this is my first road trip by myself. 5 hour drive. Hugs Arlene

First for me too.

My wife loved Memorial Day as she knew I would not be at
work that day. She always considered it special to spend
three days together while usually shutting out the outside
world.

I have had my quota of holidays for now. This one I am going
to spend in business meetings with some non-U.S. folks that
don't celebrate Memorial Day. Maybe it will pass quickly as
it will be my first one without her in 30+ years.

Every holiday from last August until now has been the first without Lyn.
And it will be until August rolls around again. Then it will turn into my seconds. I have to admit though. Staying focused on what I know Linda would want me to do and knowing, not just believing, but knowing that she is in a place she wants to be and will be there when my race is over has gotten me further along in this healing than I ever thought I would be. My faith and hope in God has been strengthened.
But it is still a hard road to travel.

I was going to do a road trip to Mississippi where my son live. I had forgot that that weekend was their movin day for his family to move there. Oh well I will find something else I won't be in the house and I hope the weather is good. Thanks everybody for sharing I love this site. I am part of two grief support groups. I go to griefshare on Wednesdays and a Open 'arms support group on Thursdays both are helping me a lot The Griefshare is church base.

I am going to go a Memorial Mass at the cemetery where Dan is buried on Sunday. I plan on putting a few flags on his gravesite as he is a veteran. It will be hard, but I feel that's where he would want me to be.
Monday I think will be a day to just enjoy all the handwork I have been doing on my lawn and have a cookout with just my daughter and maybe one of her friends.
