Hi everyone. I don't post as much as I used to, but I would like to extend my heartfelt sympathy to all of you who are experiencing one of the most devastating events that can happen to a human being.
It has been 21 months for me, and I have realized that life after such a trauma tests our will to the extreme. I have run in 10k and half marathons. Early life is so much like the excitement of the starting line. We feel the energy and drive. We establish our stride and pace, early on the race feels rewarding and challenging, with plenty of energy and stamina to spare, just as the early days of our lives with the one we love so dearly. The challenges of life met with confidence and vigor, because the love we share carries us like the wind at our backs as we run.
Then, like running uphill against the wind, as the race becomes painful, and each stride requires every bit of determination we can muster, our lives after losing them becomes much the same. Days that once brought joy and contentment, and passed far too quickly, now become a minute by minute test of our will to survive. We dig deep, finding that fire inside that at times feels like it has been extinguished, yet somehow keeps us taking one more step.
We must reach the finish line, regardless of the fatigue, pain, and constant temptation to quit, and make them proud. Along the way, we find strength we never knew we had. We finish the race for them. We continue to run, come what may, knowing they await, arms extended to embrace us at that finish line.

I'm hoping that you'll post a little more often because whenever you do, your words are so very uplifting for me. Your race analogy is spot on: some days are a smooth-surface jog; others are an uphill trek on a rocky path! But whatever the conditions, we continue to put one foot in front of the other, encouraged by what awaits us at the finish line.
