Hi Britt, Sorry for your loss. The during first part of the grieving process I feel that we are numb and in shock. When the reality waves hit they hit hard sometimes. Let the tears flow it is all part of the healing process. Not knowing the age of your children... mine are adults and do not live with me and I always tried to show them strength. Last Friday I was hit by a tidal wave of emotions and I at least let my daughter know reiterating that I hate to be weak in front of them. She basically said that she was happy to hear the bad along with the good as to it lets her know I am healing somewhat and am not going to have a mental break down.
Keep coming here either in silence and comfort just knowing you are not alone or let your voice speak and get out what you may not be able to do at home. Praying for your strength and broken heart. (( hug to you ))

i'm so sorry for your loss. :( everything flows in waves i think. i for one don't think you need to be strong in front of your children, at least not all of the time. in the beginning i cried freely and openly in front of my children and i think it was good for all of us for lots of reasons. love and strength to you.

Thank you ladies for reaching out to me I'm hoping this place helps me heal. No one around me has lost their spouse so there is only so much they can say. My kids are 1,5 and 7. I'm 27 and my husband was 36 when he passed. He took care of everything! It's just a lot I wish some responsibilities could wait until I can heal a little bit but there are things that need to be done asap. I think that's what's making it so hard!

I am right there with you. I lost my husband on 3/14 and the funeral was this past weekend. Now I'm more of a wreck than I have been the last 3 weeks because I can't keep my mind busy. I'm also more agitated and feel like I just can't concentrate. We have 4 kids but only 3 still at home. The keep trying to take care of me but I should taking care of them.

I just keep saying is this real? I think letting your kids take care of you might be helpful for them to. Gives them a purpose. I have a great support system around but I still go to bed alone.

You don't have to be strong in front of them I promise they won't shatter let them see you cry let them hug you live you cry with you it is healing. My husband passed 8 yrs ago my kids were 6 and 1 one thing I learned is they won't to be strong for you too show them it's ok to hurt and cry.

I have 3 kids at home too and I only made it one night alone. My daughter sleeps with me now. Sometimes it's doing what you have to in order to get by.

Hello Britt, I too lost my husband of almost 48 years on March 13 of this year. i know what you are going through right now and it is not a very comfortable feeling. in fact it is very very sad! i spend my days mostly alone as my adult children do not live near me and cannot visit me as often as i would like them to. i feel like a lost soul without my love of my life, and that 80 percent of my body was just torn out of me when he passed. It is not an easy time for anyone who has lost the love of their life. Please hang in there as i am trying to also. It is Easter long weekend and i feel so utterly alone and fogotten about while everyone makes their plans to get together for Easter dinners etc. Please keep in touch with me so we can compare notes as to how we are both feeling. i am tired all the time and cannot get motivated to do anything, and i have had so very much paperwork to do with his death to get completed too.
