I just wanted to share this tidbit with you all. Since Joe died, 2 yrs ago, I never thought I could feel love again, not man/woman love but even friends & family love. I was proved wrong yesterday. My granddaughter, 12, and my grandson, 5, spent the week-end with me. We went to the movies Sat. night, ate out, and then on Sunday they went to church with me. Having one child on each side of me, in church, I was overwhelmed with how happy they made me. They can never replace the love Joe and I had, but just feeling my love for them warmed me inside and I actually felt HAPPY. It only happens once in awhile, but I was so grateful for a break in my sadness. Plus, the laughter brought lots of joy.

Family is the true expression of love. So glad you had a great experience. My children are what is left of joy for me. As you said it cannot replace my love for Kristi but it is sure better than nothing.

Glad to hear that you have family that can bring you this joy and happiness. Sometimes we forget it is the simple things that they do for us or just by being there, that warms our hearts. You deserve a break from your sadness and I am happy that you did get it........hugs

Feeling the love of family is right there next to feeling the love from God. So happy that you experienced this wonderful feeling. No, it doesn't replace your husbands love, but it sure feels good. I don't know what I would do with my family and the love I get from them. Hugs, Anne

You had the VERY BEST dates a woman could ever have!!! How wonderful for you that you had such a HAPPY weekend and well deserved!!

You are so right. Nothng can ever take the place of the love we hared with our loves, but the closest thing to it, are the little angels they leave behind for us. they are a part of them to love. How COOL is that!?!? :-)

Love, and hugs to you and thanks for such a happy post! Worth remembering when times are hard. There is ALWAYS someone to love, if we just look around to see what is right in front of us!

I actually have had this happen sitting in Church. The feelings of love for my grandson were so overwhelming. Sure makes one feel good. Thanks for the post. Hugs

Grand children are the best therapy! I got to spend a month with my 2 year old twin grand daughters over Christmas. They wear you out so you sleep and laughter is the best medicine. Also was blessed with new baby Zoe on December 31. Enjoy them!

What a wonderful Saturday night date! And Sunday, too...
Aren't Grandkids the best?!?!
Witnessing the birth of my only grandson 10 months after my husband's passing was a real "Circle of Life" moment for me. The older he gets makes me want to live life to the fullest once again.

I am so glad you had such a wonderful weekend. I will always miss Stan, but I am so blessed by my children and grandchildren. I know I am immensely fortunate to have them all in town. They lighten the darkness, make me laugh, and fill my heart with joy even in the midst of grief.

I can completely relate. My grandson is my lifeline and he's the main person in my life who truly makes me happy. He has given me a purpose and I love him to pieces. I truly beileve one of the reasons he was put on this earth was to help me go tackle this grief train.
