I am going on my third year, and still feel pretty preoccupied with thinking about my husband, praying, and thinking of a time when we'll be together again. I go through each day, seeking to find meaning, and to put something out into the world which helps others. Recently, however, I'm just feeling like I want to know that others feel this way too, and that we are somewhat connected, like threads on a tapestry.

Although none of us would choose to become members of this exclusive club, we are in this together. What you're experiencing and feeling is perfectly normal, and expected. We're all going through the 5 stages of loss/grief. We each go through it at a different pace, and we can back-slide occasionally. As hurtful and tedious the grief process is, each of us will get through it.

Thank you. Although we don't wish this on others, it is helpful knowing that we are in it together, and that we'll get through--because we have to!

Hello Faith: My name is Teresa, I have recently became a widow on July 27, 2016, my husband and I were married for 25 years and we were each others soul mate. My husband we only 57 years old when he died of cardiac arrest which we are 99 percent was bought on by his radiologist not checking for a blood clot in his legs because he had been complaining of shortness of breath several weeks before his death my husband had just finished 8 weeks of radiation for intermediate stage prostate cancer and the doctor had told us that prostate cancer hardly ever caused death in men unless it was in stage 4 when it was diagnosed which my husband's was an early stage diagnosis. I have retained an attorney to represent me at the advice of my husband's primary doctor he told me that my husband's death was entirely preventable had the doctor ran any type of blood test, or done any scans the doctor blamed the shortness of breath on the very hot weather we had in Alabama last summer which the other doctors I have spoken to said was totally ridiculous. I am currently having trouble sleeping at night I still seem to be trying to be brave for my 2 sons ages 24 and 19 and I blame myself for not making him go to another doctor but this doctor had treated my dad for prostate cancer 2 years earlier and my dad was 80 years old at the time and he breezed through the same radiation treatment with no fatigue or anything he went about his daily routine each day with no problem he even told my husband to make sure he told the doctor about the shortness of breath he even knew something was not right but my husband said that the doctor knew best we never found out if the radiation even worked because my husband had blood work drawn on July 25, 2016 we were to return to the office on July 28th to get the results of the blood work but my husband died on July 27th. I find myself blaming God a lot for taking him away because he had just received his disability he had previously had a total knee and 2 total hip replacements and could no longer stand on concrete floors for 10-12 hours a day he only received 2 disability checks before his death. I have gained around 30 lbs since his death I guess I am trying to drown my sorrow with food. I am hoping that by seeing what other widows are going through will help me. Thanks for listening.

Thank you so very much, Judy and Theresa. My husband also died on July 27 at age 51. He always called me his "Rock!" He was certainly mine. When Danny died, I threw myself into my work as a counselor, but now find that I need to take time to care for these wounds. I don't blame God because I believe Danny is living in glory, and that this world is broken in so many ways. In my anguish, I've pulled closer to God, and I thank Him for the beautiful marriage I had. Judy, I hope that your 4 year journey has brought you love and support from others and time to adjust as best you can, and Theresa, I too have gained weight and aged, but I pray we find health and renewal, as we find our way through our own journeys of loss and remembrance.
