Fathers day

This is going to be a difficult day for me and my 4 grown children. First one without my husband. I am already sick of all the ads for things to get for dads.

I agree, My husband died the day after Father's Day. He was placed on the ventilator on Father's Day and I had my two teenaged sons see him in the ICU before that happened. I didn't want their last memory of him to be on the vent.
The commercials are already hard enough to watch. I'm sure this Father's Day will hurt. Not sure how to help them thru it. They are still at a place where they don't want to talk about it.

This will be the 2nd Fathers Day, my husband has been gone. Then 10 days later his birthday then 11days later our Anniversary. Last year I was still in shock . So this year I will feel it.

The first year we got together and had a barbeque at home and said it was to honor father's day. Since they we basically ignore it and I don't think about it.

Maybe you should ask your kids if they all want to get together to kind of honor father's day rather than just skipping it. It might be easier if you spend the time together - or even visit somewhere - like a zoo or movie.

For Father's Day, my daughter is taking me to lunch and then I am going to see the play," Ain't Misbehaving." We had a blended family of 9 adult children. His children never regarded me during our 36 years together. Our children range in age from 49 to 57. I have not seen or heard from them since the day of the funeral 10 months ago. I have had so much peace. How they treated their Dad was a shame and he loved them so much. My children gave him every Father's Day, Birthday and Christmas. When they traveled they would always bring him souvenirs. I pray for them and his ex because she was the manipulator. The one that connected us is gone and I don't have to take the abuse anymore.

Yes same for me. First father's day without my husband. It was hard for me to buy cards today for my dad & my father in law. The whole time I was thinking, thank goodness my daughters won't have to go thru this (buying a card I mean). Getting through the day will be hard enough for them. Reading the cards was very difficult & of course I cried. I couldn't even look at the cards from a wife to her husband on father's day. People probably thought I was nuts, standing there crying while picking out cards, but sometimes I think I actually am.
