I went to my Mom's house for my birthday celebration. My young great nephew asked me where the lady that was always with me had gone. It took me a second to think what to say-he's only six years old. I told him that Susie passed away, and she went to heaven. I was looking at my brother and sister in law to see if they would disapprove of my frank discussion of death with such a young fellow. They seemed okay with it. I was touched that Ian noticed that Susie was missing and was brave enough to ask what had happened. Anyway this birthday was nice because my family supported me. I wish Susie could share it with me. Chris

I agree with the way you explained it - we had the same issue face us with our 7 yr old and 3 yr old grandchildren. I didn't want to make up a story, or tell them a non - truth, so we we honest with them both, and explained that Nana has passed away and is in heaven now, but will allways be in our hearts.
Our 3yr old grandson says good night to his Nana everynight, he has a toy Nana bought him, that shines stars on the ceiling at night, so he looks up ans says "Night Nana, Love You" and then reminds his mommy that Nana is in his heart and her heart and Popums heart and daddys heart, etc.
You handled your nephews questions with care and wisdom. You did good! I have 7 grandchildren from 8 yrs down to 2 years. They all are so free with their memories and questions of their "Sabby"(their grandad) children are just like that!!!
