I'm sorry I haven't been very active on this board lately. My pain over my wife's death is so raw right now that even reading through the posts can be too triggering and make me sad.
I wanted to post, though, because this weekend I am seeing my deceased wife's parents, my in-laws, twice. I wanted to ask the community for etiquette tips ands if they maintained a relationship with the dead wife's parents and what that was like.
I'm thinking: I need to make sure I wear my wedding ring around them and on the left hand, dress modestly and femininely, and just be as polite and kind and well-bahved as I can muster.
The last time my wife's parents came out to LA and I saw them the shock of it put me in the psych ward screaming my wife's name over and over, so I'm trying to install as much self-care as possible around myself before I see them this time. It's been a couple years. I'm stronger now, and I can always come home and smoke some weed so I'm hoping that keeps me out of the psych ward.
Any tips or suggestions going forwards as I head into this weekend of seeing my in-laws twice?

My relationship with inlaws changed tremendously. I didn't feel any better until I acknowledged that I didn't owe them anything. They are them and I am me. They put into the relationship what they want and I do too. It's very little. Lol! They were very involved before my husband passed and then disappeared, except for holidays. I tried for 2 1/2 years to make that relationship into something it's not. Then I realized that they prioritize what's important to them and I get to do the same. I am much happier...
