Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.

My husband's siblings have told me they will not think less of me if I do remarry and am buried elsewhere, and my kids would like for me to have someone to grow old(er) with, so we shall see what the future brings. Alice
We scattered his ashes along the beautiful creek that ran through our small farm. He loved that place so, and that is where he wanted to rest.

My wishes are that I be cemated and If I do remarry I would request my ashes be split between the two. If that makes sense.

I am in the process of arranging for two cemetery plots and the remainder of her ashes will be placed in one of the plots next to the one that shall be mine. I am designing a double headstone to show the date we were married as well as the date we had our marriage vows renewed.
To be honest, it has been strange since she passed as I don't have a place where her name appears and where I can go and sit and talk to her and leave flowers. Maybe when we are both gone, only the groundskeeper will see her name / my name while he is mowing but I want her remembered.
I am not worried about remarrying and facing that problem with another wife. It would be impossible for me to find another woman with that much love for me ( and vice versa ) if I searched the world from one end to the other.
I think the decision(s) as to headstones really varies depending upon the circumstances with each person.
