I am at 6 months and I am better, there are days that are very bad and most days I just function. It is very difficult to make yourself get up and do normal things. I try to keep busy to keep my mind off things, but life is very lonely. Prayers for you.

I am over 10 1/2 months. In this journey, I have found there is no time limit as to how or what you feel. From my own personal experience I went back to work a month after my husband passed away. I could not take the quiet anymore. But then I got busy with my boys sports and so I kept busy. Then summer came and I was off and I had surgery and everything came to a screeching halt. And I had a meltdown. Because I was home and he wasn't here (even though my teens were home) it was not the same. And I had to relive his death all over and that emotional roller coaster. I honestly feel I did not give myself time to grieve that is why I went down this road again. I am not saying I may never go down it again, all I can do is pray that I will continue to put one foot in front of the other and God guides me through. I have my moments and my days but at least now I can function and I know he is not here and he is not coming back. So I have to move forward. I love him and I always will. God Bless Susan

I am so sorry for your loss. I understand what you are saying our children are there but it's not the same. Mine go home each night to their families too while I go home to an empty house.
But really it does get I wouldn't say better, I'd say easier...I am at 9 months and so much further than when I began.
Believe it or not the day will come when you will feel better, just be patient with yourself, you are experiencing the hardest thing in life I believe we will ever go through and it is a roller coaster, even now I still have days that are awful, hear a song, recall a memory but the good news is the pain doesn't last as long and you know that tomorrow will come and be a better day. I am 58 and I understand about living life to the fullest, we didn't either, a lot of time working both of us and now I so regret it but as they say live and learn so we just need to look ahead and do the best we can and maybe on the other side of this journey there will really be happy times again. Akdeen, I am so sorry for your loss. This site and these people are wonderful, so continue coming on here, it will help you so much. I am at just over 9 months since I Iost my husband. It was a second marriage for us both, he had two boys and I two girls.....together we had the most wonderful family and life for 28 years...11 grandchildren with another due Dec 26th....I totally know how you are feeling...they are here for me, as are many friends, but at the end of the day, they all go home to their lives...and believe me, I want none of them to experience this first hand...I do, often forget that they are all grieving too and I am not the only one....I am just the only one doing it alone, without the other half of ME...anyway, what I want to tell you is that although I miss him more each day and will always want him back, it has gotten easier as the minutes, hours, days, weeks, and the months go by. I now don't have the feeling that he will be walking through the door any minute. I know he won't, but in my heart he is here all the time and always will be. I am 59, and like you, too young to give up on life (and if i did, he would find a way to kick my butt for giving up) Hang in there...HUGs...Lin

I could, and may have, started this topic six years ago. We learn to live again and the emotions soften, but never disappear. I had to figure out who I was without my husband, lover, and friend. It was a slow, heart wrenching process that brought me a sense of being able to survive. Sharon

Thank you all for your replies, it is so good to talk with people that truly understand because we are all having to deal with the same thing. It's morning now and it always feels better, nights and weekends are so hard and I miss him so much. I wonder if sleeping all night long, truly laughing and being happy will ever be possible again. Thank you again for helping me get through another bad time.
