It has been a long time since I visited this site.  I am so glad the support is still here!  The holidays are tough for all of us who have lost our spouse, whether it's recent or years ago. This is the fifth Christmas since my husband died. Today it snuck up and got me.  I did fine through Christmas and New Year's Eve but today, well it's college football day, all day long.  We loved it.  And we never, ever wanted the same team to win!  And I thought about all those cold Jan 1 days, cooking pork roast, mashed potatoes, and sauerkraut, a tradition for good luck in the new year.  I so missed my husband and I so yearned for one of those cold, cozy, days gone by.  Thanks for listening and I send good wishes for you all this year.

Delayed Reaction, I have those days too. the least little thing just brings an overwhelming emotional feeling that I just can’t seem to get over. For you it might be a football game, for me it is that his favorite show had a series premiere tonight. Also, it’s seeing other couples being in love, holding hands, and so on.... hugs to you my friend

I totally get where you are coming from; my cryfest for the holidays was the Saturday before Christmas, so the 22nd. And now the house that my cousin and I and my cousin's daughter and grandson (just four months old) we've been renting is being sold and we have to move by Feb/01/2019, and we only found out on Dec/29/2018, so needless to say I am totally freaked out and miss my husband more than ever. I agree that the holidays can be a difficult time for we who have lost our spouses. For the most part it's okay for me; I keep myself quite busy with family and friends and work and the like, however there's always that underlying sadness which sometimes results in having to clenze for me. I wish you and everyone nothing but the best for 2019.

My pastor just announced the annual February marriage retreat. We always went; they have it in a really nice hotel at the coast. It is always hard remembering those times. It just hurts to think about the fun we had that we can never have again. I don't think I could handle going back to the coast for any reason. He officially proposed to me kneeling in the sand by a piece of driftwood. I haven't had an actual meltdown in a while, but I know I am not exempt.
