My step-daughter is getting better. It's been two years, so she is adapting to a new way of life. The pain of losing her dad is still there, but it is not as raw as it once was.
I lost my mom in 1999. We were close so I lost my best friend as well. It was hard at first, but as the years pass it gets easier. One thing I noticed about losing my husband is that it is harder. I think it's because we spend most of our lives mentally preparing for the day our parents depart, but not so with a husband.
