My husband Travis and I met when we were 14. Highschool sweethearts. He was a big man, weighed 300lbs. He told me a few years ago he had written a note for my best friend jami, but when I walked I to the gym as he was about to give her the note, he said I was the most beutiful person he'd ever seen and promptly threw away that note to wright one to me. He was tenacious. He asked me for 8 months, I'm ashamed to say I said no due to his weight, but I thank got I finally said yes. I was terrified of men due to my optomologist surgeon father being a schizophrenic and a Coke addict. Two weeks later trav proposed to me. So there is was, 15, engaged, and never been on a date. Lol. I was told a few months thst alter I would be forced to move halfway across the US due to my step dad getting a job. I moved, but travis still came and saw me. He dropped out of school, got his ged, and went to work for his family buisness johnsonDoor overhead garage doors. When I turned 17 we planned for him to come to the house and pick me up without my mom knowing. That was handled poorely all around. I left with the clothes on my back. My mom divorced my step dad and moved down incase trav got mean with me, which he didnt, but that should explain in itself how bad my father was. This was 9 years after my dad died. She got a job grooming cats and I went to work for her for 4 years. In that time, three months after we were finally married, his sister candace died after running away and getting married. She was a couple years older than us. She headed back with her new husband, but had a wreck. This wasalso when ford had a lot going wrong with no rollbars, auto engine shut off in case of a wreck didn't work which caused it to blow up. The forest one tires had come unraveled and wrapped around the axel. At that point I saw my mother in law for who she was. Travis explained she had used the brass end of the belt to hit him in the testicle shattering them and making him steril because he was sick. Used the hair dryer and hit candace eyc. I'm telling you this so you can understand. After teresa, my mother inlaw found out about her daughter, let's just say it was a big show. I'll get to that more in a bit. A month that later my uncle was diagnosed diagnosed with cancer, at the same time his grandmother couldn't stand one night and was rushed to the hospita.she had brain tumors. She had surgery to remove it, but 6 more grew back. My uncle died owhen I was 21, three months later his grandmother died. I had been helping mom with uncle chris, and travs family with nanny, and working too. Afterward. Travis fell into pain meds very bad. 40 pills a day. At this point he weighed about 500ish. Lbs. He came up with the idea to do meth to loose weight. It just became another addiction. Johnson door went bankrupt. The tax person they had didn't apply the new laws, and we had used all the savings to keep nanny at home where she died. Irs got involved. It was bad. I made the decision to me leave travis because he was draining everyone, and it wasn't the same person. I agreed to marry. He finally quit the drugs. Both of them. We moved into his mom's house, a nightmare. She told him on more than one occasion how her friends have great kids and she got stuck with a drug addict and a thief (hi sister) this is her own dead daughter she's talking about. Later she told travis she wanted him to go to work doing garage doors. But there was no work and it would be a waste of money. She came back from the bus routes and screamed at him how worthless he was etc and then she punched him breaking two teeth. She was 200 lbs erself. We left and moved into a rickety trailer. After a couple months we get a call his grandfather had passed away and we went to ricky his dad's house to plan for the funeral. Our landlord stole everything we owned. We only had the clothes on our back. During all this his mother who didn't qualify for gastric bypass surgery, force fed herself so she could gain those extra lbs, when her son was pushing 60 lbs at this point. I had sold my grandfather's house to try and get his surgery. After we moved to & his mom's again. Two weeks at his moms, two weeks at his dads. She wouldn't even cook enough for me to eat even though I was working etc. I left travis a second time after living like that for almost 8 months. He got us a house, and went to a methadone clinic to help him stay off pills. He was in bad shape. His spine twisted like a rag being wrung, his knee was bone on bone grinding and an inch and half shorter than his other due to 0 cartilage in his knee. And his teeth were rotting out. During this, I kept the house, worked, did the yard. I myself suffer from nail patella syndrome, a joint disease. He kept gaining more weight, more weight. Hwe would discuss how he wanted to diet, I had his back 100 percent. But when I went to work, his mom, step dad, or grandparents would bring over cases of Dr peper, high calorie food. We didn't have money for food, his family didn't care and contributed to him dieing. Even when we told them no cokes, they still brought cases. If your a recovering alcaholic, you don't put bottles of liqure in there. At this point he was in so much pain he couldn't stand. He almost went into organ failure due to a kidney infection. His mom kept complaining and griping at him for him asking to take him to the er. After she found out she flipped a switch and it was the perfect mother routine. It was sickening ing. I hated her, I still do. He survived. Over the next couple years he started having digestive issues. About 700lbs to 800lbs now. It was the equivalent of passing a one liter bottle. I tried everything to get him to go to the hospital. But due to previous expieriences with nurses laugh8ng, taking pics, or the administrator of the hospital having an engineer come in and check the bed etc. That's fine, but not making a specticle like they were with a crowd watching. His father finally passed last year. They were best friends. After, he wasn't the same. He became bed bound with his family still bringing cases of Dr pepper and high calorie food, and we still couldn't afford food ourselves. So he was forced to eat what they brought. I came to visit my mom in july. I talked to him and he wasn't feeling good. Out nephews were staying with him while I was gone. One day he didn't sound well and I told his step dad to check on him. He said he was ok. Three hours later I get a call he fell and didn't make it. I get to my I use the first think my mother inlaw asks is if she can get the fridge and deep freezer. I said some choice words. She used her dead daughter again as another ploy. My mom was with me. They almost had to cut the house up to get him out. I had gotten everything ready for the memorial. He was too big for a coffin. During this time, I finally went to my moms again so I could take in what just happened. Then I get a text message for the third time , can I go get the fridge and deep freezer. I told her that being his mother I thought she would have more emotion than this. And that I didn't give a crap about material things. My husband is gone. I also found out that she stole his medicine, wallet, phone out of my bedroom while he was still laying on my floor. After I said that she did all she could to screw up the memorial. Even though I included her in theverything. I also found out she took 2 life insurance policy on him. One was for me so I would have some wiggle room financialy. They also promised both me and travis that they would help fix up the house. He was so bad for so long that I had to let the house go needless to say I didn't see a cent. Travis trusted them to do right by me and they turned on me like rabid dogs. I had ruined my back at this point pushing and pulling him back on the bed. I myself weighed 90lbs. At the funerals I stood on the podium after all this. I told everyone who was responsible for getting us as far as we did. Our nephews, not blood relat, we helped kids in town who had bad parentz. In the end when my own body couldn't keep up, in the middle of the night we travis could call them and they would be there imediately to help him back in bed.. me and travis talked about what he wanted for a funeral. We talked in past tense like saying we had a good run. He asked me a few times to leave. Then he asked why the hell do you want to be married to a beached whale? I'm a slob I'm usess. And I told him if I ever left and something happened to you. I would never forgive myself. He looked me in the eye and said babe, you of all people have no regrets. I'm seriouse. Out of everyone you've been by my side. I thank God for you every day. As the funerals ended I was at the book sign in. Teresa had told her uncle to steal the sign in book out of the church. I was shoved out of the way and so was a couple of other people. I broke. I screamed what are you doing? This isn't right! What's wrong with you people. Rian, this mom's husband yelled, you'll get a copy as he jumped in the truck and peeled out of the paringlot. I got over to the bar and grill where we were lmao getting together. Everyone in that town helped us. They heard about what happened and went and bought a sign in book for me. They Lloyd signed it. . I cried and cried. Ti had friends from Houston to drive 300 miles to support me. Two days later I find out she's trying to buy my house from under me. My mom paid it off so I wouldn't have to worry about it. I'm living with my mom now. My house is in too bad of shape to repair. It's just amazing. I was with that man for almost 20 years. I'm 32 now. Picking everything up again is so hhard. I miss my right hand man. My partner in crim. If I had to face this gut wrenching pin ahain, I would in a heart beat so travis knew what real love was. I thank go sometimes he's gone, not because I don't want him. Lord knows I do, but because he's not in pain anymore, and his family can't ever hurt him again.
Blessings, Peace, Hope and healing for you for today and for all that are hurting... mark
