It's 3 1/2 months since my girl passed. Those of you who have read my posts before know I don't know how to cook. Well last night I took meatloaf mix and a london broil out of the freezer that Karen bought right before her passing.
I got a recipe off the internet for the meatloaf and cooked it this afternoon. Thank God I didn't feed it to anybody, they would have arrested me for attempted murder. I threw it out and I pray the animals don't get into my garbage.
So then I called up my brother and asked how to make a london broil. He told me, and for some odd reason I remembered how Karen made her sauce? for london broil. Guess what, it was delicious!!
Happy Easter to all of you. You are really a terrific group. Thanks for putting up with me.

I am happy for you to be able to experience it.
Joe, get yourself a crock pot/slow cooker or pull out one you've already got. That's how I would do London broil. It's almost impossible to wreck stuff in a slow cooker!
Good for you! You are cooking!

Luckily I was raised by a single mother who worked a lot and between her and my grandmother I learned the basics. When my wife found out we shared the cooking. You can do it my friend, sounds like a great meal you had. I suspect you may have had some spiritual help along the way. They are with us when we least expect it.
Peace, Tim
My Dad was in his late 70's when my Mum passed. He taught himself to cook and back. Bought frozen pie shells made meat pies etc. He baked date squares, lemon tarts and cakes.
You got this Joe. It just takes time and patiences and the occational toss out goofs.
Happy Easter hun.
we don't 'put up with you'. you are a loved one of us, sharing your battles with us- as we share ours with you.

Do you have your wives recipe books she used the most or recipe cards?
Good place to start for recipes to cook
Just an idea
Your post made me smile. I have not cooked since my husband passed...no desire. Many of my friends are nurses and doctors, so I am receiving food constantly that my fridge and freezer are ready to explode. (Guess they are afraid I won't eat). I nibble, but appetite is pretty non existent. I am hoping in a few months that I will visit Whole Foods and buy some things to start making some homemade things for myself.
